Description / Synopsis

Keaton is Manhattan business dynamo J.C. Wiatt whose life is turned upside down when she’s given custody of a baby from a deceased relative. Soon she’s trading big city life for small town domesticity when she loses her boyfriend (Harold Ramis, Ghostbusters), her job and any sense of normalcy and moves to Vermont to take on a new role … motherhood.
Rounding out the cast are Sam Shepard (Steel Magnolias) as J.C.’s romantic interest, James Spader (Pretty in Pink), Sam Wanamaker (Irreconcilable Differences), Pat Hingle (Batman) and TV’s Saturday Night Live alums Victoria Jackson and Mary Gross.

Baby Boom is one of Diane Keaton’s best job of acting especially with an amazing story and script. The child who plays in this with her is just beautiful and looks like the one on “Gerber Baby” products. I give this DVD as a gift to family and friends.

Women were better in the 80’s
I’m a man in my 40’s and I love this film. Seeing the way a woman turns her back on a career so she can be a mother is exactly what many women need. Almost a century of f*minism and look around— women aren’t happy anymore. This film brings out what women’s happiness really looks like.About the DVD itself. No it doesn’t offer special features or a fancy case or box art. The menu offers the film, subtitles, and the movie trailer. Very basic. I tend to believe as my own opinion that MGM and Hollywood didn’t want to put any special effort into a film that doesn’t push f*minism. Too bad. It’s a great film that every modern woman should take to heart.

Diane Keaton at her best!
I am a sucker for classic 80s films (hence my profile name) and this has to be one fo MY FAVORITE films not only of the 80s but of all time. I have watched it countless times and I still never get tired of it. I watched it again last night and it still feels as fresh as the first time I saw it. Sure the film is a bit dated but you have to remember it was released in 1987 (which is actually part of its charm). However the film itself has definitely withstood the test of time, and it is really a shame that they just don’t make films with quality talent like this anymore. The script, acting, directing, production is all superb in this film. I won’t go into all the details about the plot of the film since it has already been discussed by many other reviewers.One of the things I love about the film is the scenes in Vermont which are absolutely beautiful. Diane Keaton plays a hard-driven career woman who leaves NYC for a quieter life in rural Vermont. I think the reason this film works so well is that so many of us have had this same fantasy: escape the crazy rat race of the big city and get back to a more simpler, relaxing way of life. I have always dreamed of doing that and I won’t give up on that dream! There is more to life than making money and I think that is the real point of the film. I am thrilled that I have added this movie to my DVD collection and highly recommend it to everyone, you will surely not be disappointed!

One of my Favorite Movies
I have seen this movie numerous times reason I wanted to own. It’s a belated Christmas gift to myself. It’s funny but also has a positive message for women. We don’t need men to control our goals. We can achieve them on our own. And has a happy ending. Highly recommend.

Great Film
Besides the fact that Diane Keaten is probably one of my five top favorite actresses, and I’ve loved most all of her films, from Woody Alan to REDS. , I’m convinced she can play any kind of part in any kind of film.This is an interesting film in that she has to change characters so many times. At first a hard working first class wealthy business woman, then a mom who hasn’t the slightest idea of how to take of a baby she inherits and finally a gal whose moved to the NE in a house she saw in the newspaper, and where her roof caves in in the middle of winter, her well runs dry and just about everything that could go wrong with this house she’s bought in Vermont brings her to the point of poverty. Close to a nervous break down, she changes course again.She makes a come back, and with her orchard begins to make baby apple sauce. Tons of it, and it sells, and sells and sells, and next thing we know, she’s been called back to her old job in NY where she’s presented with her great come back. But she turns it down. If they can do it, so can she. Diane Keaten plays all of her different parts great, and I love this film. Of course, it’s not REDS, and it’s not Woody but I like it just the same.

A movie for women over 50 to enjoy. Perfect example of do what you know and love for a living. Also, raising and taking care of a baby is no joke, although rewarding. I recommend it.

コメディーなので話の筋は、英語が聞き取れなくてもなんとなく理解でき、好きな映画の一つでした。米国で購入したVHSのテープを持っていましたが、聞き取れないところが多かったので、これを購入。英語のsubtitleがついているので、聞き取れなかった部分(せりふ)が判明して、また辞書で調べることもでき、今までの「これはなぜ？」が判明して購入して良かったと思っています。

Une superbe comédie avec une resplendissante Diane Keaton ,super Sam Shepard, et une bébé qu’on voudrait tous recevoir en héritage-Ce merveilleux bébé que opère le miracle de réveiller l’instinct maternel endormi d’une femme d’affaires qui plaçait sa carrière au sommet de ses intérêts.Ce petit bout de choux que D.Keaton reçoit en héritage la détourne de son intérêt carriériste et en la faisant perdre sont poste ,car pour s’en occuper ne peut plus s’en dédier corps et âme, la conduit à la découverte de son instinct maternel, dans une autre contrée où elle découvrira une activité nouvelle, donnera un autre sens à sa vie et la fera rencontrer l’amour.Il y a des scènes d’une drôlerie incroyable. On retiendra la scène du plombier rustre que doit subir la crise de nerfs de Keaton en découvrant que son chauffage ne marche plus, ou celle où elle découvre avoir fait des confessions concernant son intimité sexuelle à un vétérinaire, ou la scène de la panne de voiture. J’en rie encore!!!!Une comédie pleine d’humour ou les choses importantes de la vie reprennent leur place et l’amour tisse se toile en douceur dans les paysages splendides du VermontUn trio de choc pour vous faire passer un moment très agréable, que vous fera rire ,car on découvre une Keaton merveilleusement drôle , un S.Shepard émoustillant et plein de charme, et une petite actrice à croquer!!A voir et à revoir,chaque fois on y prend du plaisir ou à offrir pour le faire découvrir une comédie pleine de charmeIl vous laisse une sensation de légèreté et de joie-
