A true Whistle blower that tells the truth!
Damaged Care is based upon the true-life events surrounding the national health care insurance industry and the corporation Humana. I found the movie VERY informative and undaunting as it “told the story” in an unwavering fashion. This is the kind of story corporations and companies would rather be swept under the rug so to speak. In this film, we watch a wonderful mother and wife work hard within the medical field as a doctor and transition into the medical insurance industry as claims specialists. After a while, she begins to encounter rather unscrupulous things including unethical behavior and horrible attitudes regarding patients and their overall health. Taking care of the “bottom line” became more important than taking care of the patient. Here in this corporate environment, upper levels of management were pressuring the good doctor to bow to the demands to keep the bottom line in line. Finally, as any good person with a conscience would probably wind up doing, this doctor can not bear to stomach the environment any longer as it violates her conscience and deep personal values of taking care of patients first! Soon she finds herself in moral dilemmas that absolutely can no longer be ignored while at the same time experiencing conflicts in her own home. The road for her was long and eventually, she finds herself standing before a Congressional Subcommittee testifying as a “Whistleblower.” Great movie! Loved it!

    Little Guy Always Looses
Makes you stop and really think just how the HMO insurance companies operate and take advantage of innocent people who are out there who really need medical help. There was a time when everyone cared about everyone and their hearts were actually in it when they would care for a patient now in this day and age its all about money and numbers anymore…..No One cares about the patients……like Bob Segar says…..”Feel like a Number”Wish we could go back about 20 or 25 years when the word caregiving actually meant something. Sad to see what this world is becoming now days.

Not necessarily the truth and the whole truth about all players in the health or HMO field
I accepted the problems presented by such organizations as Humana which is stereotyped as the business model of health insurers. I was quite disturbed when they cooked up, that is my conclusion, a deplorable incident, involving my HMO, Kaiser Permanente. As a long long time member os Kaiser HMO, they are not in the same category as distant insurers. They are run by MDs who are paid a fee and are not penalized for ordering necessary tests and procedures. And my plan and all Kaiser plans that I am aware of let patients go to any ER and will then reimburse the cost to the ER. So this part should not be accepted as more than fiction. Laura Dern gives the part of the doctor her usual charm and skill. The nasty MD suit types are a little over the top however. It is not in my opinion a fair depiction of all insurers and the doctors who work at them either. But as a docudrama it is worth a look see on a rainy night when nothing else is there to watch.

A movie all should see and absorb!
This is an important docudrama that depicts the struggles of Linda Pino, MD with the managed care system. In medical school, managed care was not the terrible influence it is now. I didn’t know Dr. Linda Pino, but her husband was my resident during my rotation on OB/Gyn at the University of Louisville. The problems seen in the movie are real and even greater today. I wish EVERYONE could see this movie. As a physician in private practice, managed care makes taking care of my patients more than a little difficult. Moreover, most all of my patients have seen increases in deductibles, copays, and premiums while at the same time experiencing greater difficulty in obtaining the medical care that they deserve, require, and believe they had paid for. This movie easily deserves MY ABSOLUTE HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!!

    Hippocratic Oath Movie
I like this movie because it depicts human nature as well as corporate greed vs. healthcare. This movie came out before Sicko, and is about a real life woman whom was faced with moral & ethical dilemmas all while trying to balance her families financial well being as well as being a responsible mom to her kids. This movie shows the grey areas of how choosing to do the right thing isn’t quite as simple as some think it is, while also showing how to start doing the right thing in order to be a better role model for others. In turn seeing the consequences of how doing the right thing can also have negative repercussions.

    About Healthcare Insurance Companies
This movie showed the indecent treatment of sick people in our country because the health care companies that came into be during the early seventies and showed how profit was more important than human life. Ms. Laura Dern who played the part of Dr. Linda Pino who went up in front of congress and testified of the underhanded treatment of people that were supposed to be covered for services under their medical insurance plane. The ending court room seen I will not mention because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who purchases the DVD. Many thanks to all Nadroy
