Must have!
Our new travel trailer came with the mounting for this camera so we bit the bullet and purchased this camera.Having a view behind you is a huge stress reliever! Well worth every penny. We mounted the camera on the back of the trailer where indicated. As mounted, we have only a very small blind spot on the left and right of the vehicle and trailer where the side mirrors don’t pick up traffic. The night view is excellent, as are the colors and visibility during the day. The option to upgrade with additional side cameras is a huge plus which will take advantage of in the upcoming years. The kit came with all the necessary mounting hardware and cabling to mount ourselves but didn’t have to use it since our trailer already had the mounting bracket installed. The instructions looked fairly simple but can’t speak to the ease of installation without the pre-installed mounting bracket. Most definitely worth the money. And will be moving the camera to our next trailer when it’s time to upgrade campers.

Easy to install, decent camera
My travel trailer was pre wired for a furrion camera so it only took about 5 minutes to pop the faceplate off, connect the camera and button it back up.Had some trouble with the camera disconnecting until I realized it is designed to only work if the running lights are on. Once I made that change in the truck, the camera worked flawlessly. It did have some slight delay/pixelization when driving but it was manageable.

A nice tool that works, but expensive.
I love this camera, but more for driving than for backing. I use this camera for knowing there is someone behind my trailer while going down the road, and to know that I have cleared them while passing. The system doesn’t reverse the picture so it’s not displayed as if you were looking in your rearview mirror ( in the picture, cars pass on your right because the camera is facing backwards). When backing, it is more useful to use for proximity to things behind you than for using as your sole backing view and guide. Another reason this is true is because the camera lens is a fisheye, which distorts distance judging. For real time driving, there is also a slight delay in your view that is noticeable at interstate speeds. Passing vehicles are are already up by my tow vehicle when the camera view has them at the back of your trailer. You have to learn and adjust for this. For the camera to be on while driving in the daytime, you have to turn on your park lights. Although mounted in a solid frame, the camera is adjustable for height. You can have your trailer bumper in the picture, or raise it up to see the horizon and approaching vehicles as there are multiple position indents that hold the camera solid. If your RV has a ladder, you can quickly change camera level by going a couple rungs up your ladder. The picture quality is good and it comes up very fast. I have seen no examples of picture interference in one summer of frequent use. I wipe the lens off when washing the RV, but after driving in rain, it still has a surprisingly decent picture. It auto swaps to night-vision, which makes the infrared illumination light up bugs and particles like snow in the picture. If you have the money to spend on this expensive camera then get it, but get at least the mid-size viewing screen.

Stays connected even when sandwiched between semis on a 3-lane stretch of highway
I am using it as a rear camera on my 27’ camper towed behind my truck that is a 3/4 ton super cab with an 8’ bed (just so you know the distance I’m working with). When setting it up I didn’t have to do anything special. Seriously – I powered the camera up off the pigtail on the screen power cord while sitting on the front seat of the truck and it just connected immediately. The only setting changes I made were to flip the image to a mirror image as it made more sense in my head while driving and then I also killed the audio since I’m planning on using it for security or anything like that. Picture quality is good although I think the screen’s resolution could benefit from being a hair higher. I was originally going to get the 4.3” screen but after looking at some representations between a few iPhones concluded that the 5” screen was a worthy jump for only a little more money. The camera easily mounted to the existing fin and wiring on my camper but that was expected as the RV manufacturer fits them out that way. But any way it works well, signal reliability is rock solid, and definitely gives you more confidence in lane changes on the road. Helpful also during parking but the road visibility was my main purpose for installing it.

AWESOME!
This may be the best gadget we have purchased for camping! We were getting pretty good at backing the 25′ travel trailer into sites, now we are pros. Driving down the highway on a 4 lane means no blind spots so passing/being passed is no longer a white knuckle moment, even with extended mirrors. Video quality is great, install was super simple as the camper was pre-equipped with the shark fin mount. Power was already there – just plugged in the camera and it’s powered when the running lights are on. Monitor size is adequate, could have gone with the large unit but that was way more money. Highly recommend!

After a purchasing a Furrion “compatible” back up camera for our RV and being quite disappointed (which we promptly returned) we decided to go with an original Furrion since our RV was pre-wired. It is absolutely plug & play – we had the camera installed and the monitor set up in less 20 minutes. The monitor (ours is the 5″ model) is beautiful quality; light and easy to attach to the windshield. Although it is capable of using up to 4 cameras, we are only using it for one at the rear of the unit. We’ve recently used it for parking our RV and it worked perfectly, giving a large field of view. It also has an audio function where the driver can easily hear someone at the back of the unit providing direction if needed, so the microphone has good pickup. In theory, that person could converse with the driver but, for me (the directing person), the camera speaker is too high to clearly hear anything being said. May work well for someone who doesn’t have hearing issues though. Although the cost was considerably higher than the original “compatible” kit we ordered, I think it was ultimately worth the money. I would recommend the Furrion Vision S, particularly if you have a pre-wired RV.

It works perfectly on our little camper. Perfect for seeing what’s going on behind the camper while travelling. Dont need huge mirrors on our vehicle. Picture is clear. Love it
