My daughter (11) loved this book!
My daughter (11) loved this book! I’m very impressed by the storytelling. It’s a perfect way to introduce kids to Greek mythology. The stories are exciting, easy to follow, intriguing, and full of valuable life lessons. She especially loved the story of Echo and Narcissus. They are retold in a way that feels fresh and relatable and it’s beautifully written. Having Orpheus as a storytelling guide adds a fun, creative touch that makes the book feel like an adventure. It’s a great mix of entertainment and education. Couldn’t recommend it enough! Especially if your kids are just getting into Greek mythology.

Just the right size for advanced young readers.
I teach a lot of Mythology to my students (for over 20 years) and have a degree in Classical Literature. I was very excited to read this one. My daughter is just getting into reading the myths and we read each story together. I liked the feminine eye of the narrator and loved the focus on some “side characters”. It was so nice to read the stories of Pan, Circe, and Atalanta! The stories are well grouped to teach the various life lessons. Part IV: Lonely Monsters of Myth was my daughter’s favorite part (we read that one twice). The retelling of Medusa’s origin story is very well done and you’ll never see the Minotaur in quite the same way again. I will definitely be sharing and recommending this book to my students and parents.

Well-written
This book is an absolute gem for any parent looking to spark their child’s imagination while introducing them to the timeless tales of Greek mythology. My 10-year-old daughter couldn’t put it down, and I loved seeing her light up as she shared the lessons and adventures from each story. The writing is vibrant and accessible, making these ancient myths relatable without losing their magic. The inclusion of a glossary was a brilliant touch—it helped her understand the characters and symbols while deepening her understanding. Highly recommend!

For a
I picked up Greek Mythology for Kids to introduce some younger family members to the world of greek mythology, it was a little bit advanced for their reading level but I’ll hold onto it for when they get a little bit older! The book brings the stories of gods, heroes, and monsters to life with a fun, modern twist that kept them hooked from start to finish. When I got it I flipped to the back to see if there was a glossary to see if my favorites were there! While these stories are simplified for younger readers, it’s a great starting point to spark their curiosity, and I’m excited to explore the original myths with them as they get older. Highly recommend this as an engaging and educational gift for kids.

An Engaging and Kid-Friendly Take on Greek Myths
Greek Mythology for Kids is a fun introduction to ancient myths that makes these classic stories accessible and pretty easy to follow for its intended audience of 8-12-year-olds. The author simplifies the complexities of Greek mythology without losing the essence of these timeless tales, presenting them in a way that’s engaging and digestible. As an adult reader familiar with some Greek mythology, I found the storytelling method effective, though it’s clear the book is crafted with younger readers in mind. The casual language, while occasionally too informal for my taste, keeps the stories relatable and fun for kids.Overall, this book is a great starting point for children discovering Greek mythology or an easier to digest set of short stories sparking imagination while introducing them to important characters and themes. It’s a light and enjoyable read, even for adults who want to revisit these myths in a more whimsical format.

Nice rendition of the Greek Myths!
I would highly recommend this book for young readers. The writing style appeals to the senses and in each story you feel like you are in the setting that the narration describes in detail and with color. There are some humorous moments in many of the stories, including the the character flaws of the gods themselves. Even the stories that are originially more sinister perhaps are told with certain lightheartedness that is more suitable for the youth. There are interesting observations about gods, people, and the nature of things in these myths. The story of Medusa disturbed me during the first reading, but after the second read, I saw an important lesson. Thank you for bringing this to the world S. Stephenhagen!

Captivating. Magical. Educational. Just a few of the superlatives I could use to describe this brilliant book that is a joy to read for both child and parent alike. As a longtime lover of Greek mythology this book stands head and shoulders above many others I have read, as I try to share this passion with my children. This is a truly excellent entrance onto the literary scene from this exciting author, I’m looking forward to their future works. In the iPad age we now find ourselves in its incredibly refreshing to see my son re-read this book by his own accord, rather than pester me for more screen time (a pain I’m sure many other parents reading this know well). 5/5.

Beautifully written and packed with lots of information, even as someone who already loves mythology. It’s accessible even as someone who isn’t native in english, so I recommend it also if you want to read to improve your english.
