    Nice keypad door lock
I purchased this because carrying an arm load of groceries & fumbling around in my pocket for keys can be a struggle. This keypad door lock is reasonably easy to install, & use. The project took about 40 minutes to install, & program. As long as this lock fits your door, it is reasonably easy to install and setup.I would buy this again if I need another. I have used this on the kitchen to garage door. It looks much nicer than the old brass doorknob that we had in this door. The mechanism feels heavy, & sturdy, & works perfectly. I would recommend this especially if you have friends, or family that you want to be able to come and go with out having to get a spare key. The code to lock, & unlock the lock, is reprogramable to allow a temporary code for family or a contractor to come and go as needed, & then reset back to your normal lock code for yourself when the guest has left, or contractor, is done and you want to set it back to your original code.

    Simple
Easy to install, easy to set the code. Installs just like any other door knob, but with a component wire to slide through the knob hole and connect to the back side. I like the auto lock feature and the fact that it can easily be turned off by simply flipping the switch on the inside of the door. This is the 2nd one I’ve purchased. The battery seems to last quite a while, but as in everything, it will die one day! There is a set of keys for it, for that purpose. Just make sure your keys are never locked in the room!! The beep is loud when putting in the code, which can be annoying, especially at night when people are sleeping. I guess if the purpose were to hear if someone unauthorized was going into a locked room, that would come in handy… I do wish there was a feature to turn off the beep!! It should be optional!

If I had 3 hands installation would have been easier
This is my 5th house I’ve converted to Kwikset SmartKey. This lock 955 is the first with a keypad. It would have been easier with another hand as I’m right handed and the screws were where my left hand was holding the interior side in place and the extra weight made it a little awkward! Next house I’ll make sure the door swings the correct way so I won’t have that problem. I will soon rekey to my current house key. As I was getting ready to do it I noticed that I now need to remove the lever handle that I just put on and had fought a little bit with. I just wasn’t up to doing that. It takes about a minute to rekey and it will take me probably 5 minutes to take off and then replace the lever handle. This is my first lever handle and I don’t know why it has to come off to rekey. The lock works great, the key code works too. I wrote my key code down several places and the directions seem to be pretty clear on how to delete the codes and add additional codes. I have never started from a new door needing to drill the holes and I never will. That’s what brothers are for.I just ordered a SmartKey deadbolt so later this week I’ll install it. My lever is satin chrome and the deadbolt is a satin nickel so I’m guessing it’ll be a little different color but satin chrome wasn’t an option for the style I chose.I opted to keypad the lever handle so that when I’m making multiple trips to my car I can use the passage feature (won’t auto lock) and when I leave for a short period of time I’ll use the auto lock. There’s a third feature “disable passage” that does as it says and passage isn’t an option, ie, public restroom, you’ll need a key or code every time.

Totally Pleased with this Door Lock
First, I’d like to say that this lock is absolutely brilliant. The keyless entry is very convenient, no more fumbling for keys. It has 3 different locking modes, and the programming is super easy. Installation was a breeze, even for a novice like me. The iron black finish looks sleek and modern. And with 30 programmable codes, it’s great for a busy household. The numbers are easy to read, and the bright light is a lifesaver in the dark. An excellent choice for a secure home.

    Didn’t work as intended
I was hoping a new lock would keep my wife’s lover out while I’m at work but idk why I didn’t just figure she’d let him In anyway, great product though, now I do have a few complaints1. Almost too easy to use, after I set up codes for myself my wife, children, and office assistant. But with the lock being so simple to understand and user friendly with it’s set up my wife was able to figure out how to make her lover his own code. She was able to figure that out on her own and she’s a women! So maybe that’s something Kwikset should fix so small children and jealous assistants can’t figure out how to add their own codes.2. Also I think it doesn’t need to be so loud. since we’ve had this new door knob my wife’s secret lover has been starting to come over in the middle of the night. And now since she thinks I’ve been ā€œsleepingā€ through the loud codes almost every night she’s been getting more comfortable getting louder with her lover not expecting me to wake up, then about after an HOUR AND HALF of all kinds of bangs and squeels I have to hear that danm lock loudly lock back up when he leaves3. Battery life could be better

I was hesitant to purchase this lock as I did not recognize the brand name “Kwikset”, only being familiar with the more available brands in stores such as Schlage, Weiser, etc. However, I suspect it might actually be the Schlage Smartcode lock just under a different brand name as it seems identical in all ways. I always research and read reviews and this lock had great ratings so I decided to go for it.It was very easy to install, took about 30 mins. The code programming is really easy to do, too. I installed this on my garage and I find it really quick and easy to access the garage – even in the dark as you can light up the buttons with one tap. It’s an attractive lock (I bought the satin nickel finish), sturdy, and the lever handle is handy when your hands are full – they provide two levers, a left and a right version.I happen to have a Weiser brand smart code deadbolt on my front door and I actually prefer this Kwikset Smartcode 955 better. I like the key code being right there by the handle instead of on a separate deadlock higher up on the door like other Smartcode styles, and the price was good, not as expensive as some of the other more known brands. If I ever have to replace the Weiser, I’d buy this Kwikset lock instead. Very happy with it.
