Midnight Black (Gray Man Book 14)
$9.99
With his lover imprisoned in a Russian gulag, the Gray Man will stop at nothing to free her in this latest entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
A winter sunrise over the great plains of Russia is no cause for celebration. The temperature barely rises above zero, and the guards at Penal Colony IK22 are determined to take their misery out on the prisoners—chief among them, one Zoya Zakharova. Once a master spy for Russian foreign intelligence, then the partner and lover of the Gray Man, she has information the Kremlin wants, and they don’t care what they have to do to get it.
But if they think a thousand miles of frozen wasteland and the combined power of the Russian police state is enough to protect them, they don’t know the Gray Man. He’s coming, and no one’s safe.

Front to back action!
Great addition to the Gray Man series. One of the best. Fast paced. Lots of non-stop action. Especially liked how the author handled the multiple ongoing sequences.

great book
As usual, Mark Greaney has crafted a great book. Court Gentry, Zoya, Zach, Hanley, all the usual players are in this one deep. Good story, great, great action the last 20% of the book. he also sets the hook for future books with plots only to be imagined. Can’t go wrong on Grey Man books. I highly recommend this one.

A Desperate Gray Man
Having read all the Gray Man novels, I feel mixed emotions about “Midnight Black”. It is indeed competently written and most of the recurring characters are in it. Indeed, the action scenes are as prolific and as descriptive as ever. Court Gentry, the Gray Man, is trying to sneak into Russia to save his imprisoned lover, sometimes partner, and former Russian spy, Zoya Zakharova. He is getting limited help from current CIA leadership and must rely on the demoted Matt Hanley and fellow hell-raiser, Zack Hightower, to get the job done…which ultimately includes also rescuing an imprisoned Russian leader who has been in exile and his wife. The problem for me was how plodding and distracting the first half of the book was…I clearly felt over a 100 pages could have been edited out without affecting the main storyline. Indeed, the rescuers don’t reach the prison until page 440 out of 500 and the climax is engaging and somewhat suspenseful. And I am more than a little skeptical of the surprise ending and what it portends for Gentry and Hanley. Do these books always have to have leadership that is both patently stupid and often dangerously opposed and/or skeptical of the protagonist? It too often seems that way.

fabulous read!
The best of the Gray Man books. Absolutely could not put it down. Certainly the best action story I have read in the last year. Tied up lots of loose ends as well. Can’t wait for the next one!

Tom Clancy reincarnated.
Well done Mark. One of your best ones yet of the Gray Man series. Made me well up at the end. You make it personal. Thank you.

Another superb Gray Man story!
Maybe my favorite in the series so far. Plenty of action, intrigue and a fast moving plot. I would really have liked to see what became of Baronov, but maybe he will make an appeal in the next book.

Awesome
Love the Gray Man series, and I’m sad I have to wait for the next one. I especially like the way Court, Zoya, Zach and Matt have all now become deeply developed characters. Their interactions, relationships and history have become so intertwined, the series is no longer just about Courtland Gentry and I thoroughly enjoy reading this series. I think anyone can read these as standalones, but if you do, you’ll miss a lot of how this whole relationship developed. Love this book.

Great series, I’m hooked! Only problem is I read it in under a week and the SOB only writes one a year! Mark I say that with all the respect in the world, I love your books.

I really enjoyed this book. Action was fast and I really liked the way the details came together. The corridor thing was something new to me but the way it came about in the story made it clear to me. The amount of background work to bring this together must have been enormous. I really appreciate the effort and look forward to the next book.
