Bright Illustrations and Simple Pronunciation Guides Make German Fun!
“My First 150 German Words” is a fantastic way to introduce German to kids and beginners. The bright illustrations make learning fun and help connect each word with its meaning. I love how the book includes pronunciation guides and gendered articles, making it easy to get started without feeling overwhelmed. Beautiful book but pronunciation guide could use refinement
I loved the illustrations and the way the book was organized. The print was very large and easy to read. Each page has two words, with the German and English words and a respelling of the German word to help a reader pronounce the new word. The German word includes its article, which is super important and helps children learn its importance. The main problem I have is with the respellings of some of the German words to help the pronunciation. It doesn’t follow an accepted guideline and leaves it up to interpretation in some cases (eg. blow (rhymes with snow) is suggested to help pronounce blau; vohn (rhymes with John) used for wohn). Polizei shown as (poh-LYE-tsee) seems pretty far off.In fairness, I would say 90% of the suggested pronunciations are pretty good and could get the reader in the ballpark without having to learn the actual German vowel and consonant sounds.I would have given this book five stars without the pronunciation guides in the book at all, and it’s a fun companion for a parent who might already know the language to help teach their child some basic words.

An Engaging Way to Learn German Words
“My First 150 German Words” is an interactive and engaging way to learn German words. The colorful pictures are eye-catching, and the phonetic pronunciation included with each word is very helpful. Although it is not intended to teach the language, it is a great start for young and beginning German-language learners. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning the German language.

Excellent book for learning a broad range of German vocabulary
This book delivers as advertised. It provides a broad range of vocabulary words along with clear instructions on how to pronounce the words. Great book for kids, but also for anyone who would like to start learning the German language by learning a broad range of vocabulary. The images for each word will appeal to kids as well.

Unique Learning Opportunity
This little book of German words is a fun way to try a new language. The author has included nice illustrations and a pronunciation key for each new word. This would be a great tool for young children and anyone else who may be interested in learning German. The book gives words for animals, insects, places, foods, body parts and so much more. This is a book I would give to others.

Great visual vocabulary builder for kids and beginners
A well-designed introduction to German vocabulary for children and beginners alike. The illustrations are charming and engaging, making learning fun and memorable. The inclusion of articles (der/die/das) with each noun is particularly valuable for proper German language learning. The layout is clean and kid-friendly, and the phonetic guides help with basic pronunciation. While not perfect, it’s a solid resource for families starting their German language journey, especially those with young children. A good value for the price, particularly the Kindle version.

Learn to Speak Simple Words in German!
I like the simplicity of the book. I do not have any background in the German language, and I used phonetic words that ” sound like ” to sound out the pronunciation. The images are cute, and children will enjoy them. The book is arranged logically, with items you might find together in everyday life. This book will come in handy if you are traveling to Germany!

Each page has two images, each with an english word, a german pronunciation and a phoenetic pronounciation. Large clear text. Colourful, engrossing images. All words are basic but common nouns used by children. This book is exactly what it needa to be and as long as you brace yourself for the terrifying cartoon tomato on page 50 then you should be fine

Loved this little Book! Having learned German as a young girl and then forgotten it this brought it all back. I would like to see more like this. The Author did a great job of the pronunciation lesson and the images were perfect for the younger reader. Please publish more for beginners to intermediate German Speaking Students.

This is a really colourful book with big images, clear pronunciation guide and it looks great, keeping kids engaged. The layout makes it easy to follow with little ones and will keep them entertained. With the kindle version, the icons (of a speaker) make a bit like you can ‘click’ the icon to hear the pronunciation. I quickly learned this wasn’t the case, but one tiny piece of feedback is that this icon might be confusing for some others using a phone or Kindle (as that icons often means ‘click to play’).But overall a really nice book that will help kids learn beginner German words.

A fun and colourful book for learning your first words in German.

This book is what it says it is: a presentation of basic German vocabulary, with pictures and pronounciation.I had expected that there would be some sort of pedagogy to the book, but there isn’t. As such, I don’t see it as being particularly useful in learning the language, and I don’t think it is particularly effective in the implicit goal of learning German.3 stars, because the book largely delivers what is promised in the title.
