They’ve loved each other in a thousand lifetimes. They’ve killed each other in every one.

Evelyn can remember all her past lives. She can also remember that in every single one, she’s been murdered before her eighteenth birthday by Arden, a supernatural being linked to her soul. The problem is that she’s quite fond of the life she’s in now, and her little sister needs her in order to stay alive. If Evelyn wants to save her sister, she’ll have to find the centuries-old devil who hunts her through each life before they find her first, figure out why she’s being hunted and finally break their curse, and try not to fall in love . . . again.

    You will cry.
Beautifully written. I had so many tears. So many feelings and emotions.”I love you, I have loved you, and I will love you”Who could ever think a YA book could be this good and grip your heart in vise this tight? I finished it and wanted to read it again.A curse to love and for her die in every lifetime by the hand of her love??!! What is there not to love about that storyline??Arden-so much to love about him. Once you get to know him…his words and the things he says, you fall in love with himAnd Evelyn. The poor girl, killed in every lifetime and then finds herself needing to save her little sister in this lifetime.I loved this book SO MUCH….as you can tell by my 12 different versions that Ive collected on my shelf! Laura created a very unique story and beautifullly wrote it. It really pulls you in and makes you feel it so deeply that it hurts.

Good story with laughs and tears!
It was good. I do feel like there was an agenda with the LGBT aspect almost to the point of it feeling super forced, not a straight person in the book 😅. That got tedious after the 3rd or 4th mentioning. All around an enjoyable read just a tad preachy. I’d give it 3.5 for that aspect and 4 stars for over all story. Not bad but I’ll assume future books will likewise be heavily saturated and avoid further books from the author.

Mixed feelings – hated the ending
Mixed feelings on this book. It was beautiful and heart-wrenching. It was also super slow paced and so cyclical that I got a bit exhausted by the cycles themselves because nothing ever changed. Another cycle, another back to the starting point with little to no character development or plot changes. I learned pretty early to skim the first halves of the flash-backs to get the pertinent information without any loss of story or character. The flashbacks were nice, but not super engrossing. (I skimmed parts of the Wales tale too though. So. Much. Introspection. And most of it repetitive.)More than anything though, I really disliked the last 20% of the book. The reveal of what was going on didn’t feel natural to the story. Honestly, it felt kind of cartoonish. And the last 15%, I predicted almost exactly what would happen. With all the build up, this was disappointing and felt like it lacked creativity. Part of this may be me though as there were some clues (the characters names…) that made me think the reveal would go a different direction than it did. To be honest, the direction I had built up in my head both felt more meaningful, more connected to the Wales tale, and less out-there. So disappointing that it didn’t happen. The theme also ended up being repeated so many times that it both felt heavy handed and made the ending dead obvious. It would have been a better book if it’d been cut by 25%, but skimming solved that problem.I also never really felt like I got to know the characters as people. I never quite put my finger on who they were, although perhaps this was intentional based on the nature of the book. The side characters had way more personality for me than the FMC/MMC.All of that said, I’m glad I read it and tentatively recommend.

    Loved this one
This is the book that you wish you could read for the first time over and over again. It’s hard to get me to cry for a story but when I do that tells me the author did an excellent job in character development and painting the perfect picture to reach my heart.Sitting here crying after the last page just feeling so many different emotions. This was beautifully written, just mesmerizing how the sentences flow to create such a vivid narrative. The main characters Evelyn & Arden met in every lifetime and in every lifetime they kill each other.Evelyn doesn’t know why Arden keeps hunting her down so thats where the mystery comes in.Their love is already established when the author introduces the MC to the reader however the chapters go back in time to their previous lives giving us their backstory and build the picture of who they are and how they fell in love over a thousand years.

    incredible!!!
I loved every part of this story! But I really feel the great evil at the end should have been more an entity and less of a character because it felt rushed. I was crying then got to that part and just thought wth then got to the next chapter after and started bawling again.

Loved the premise, poetry, and twists!
Loved the premise, poetry, and twists! Such a romantic read and a great study on love, suffering, hope, morality, humanity and of course, fate and how much we can control it or change it (or not!) And what makes a person or soul. I loved the poetry so much. So beautiful. I liked the vignette of past lives but wanted to see some from Arden’s POV. There was obviously a lot of repetition but that’s the point, right? That we go thru the same mistakes until we can figure it out just to realize and accept that at the end sometimes fighting is futile and it’s fated. It was hard to buy into how much they love each other when it seems like for many lives they aren’t actually together for that long or it’s all spent in “I hate you for killing me” angst or sometimes it’s a super abrupt killing. I wish they would have made the most fo every life but I guess the whole point is about suffering and how we waste time a lot.So much to think about. It did remind me a bit of Secret Life of Addie Larue meets A Witch in Time but at the end it definitely stood up on it’s own.Would definitely recommend!

One of the best books I’ve ever read
This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. In every lifetime, Arden and Evelyn love each other and in every lifetime, they kill each other. This is a story about a tragic love that lasts for an eternity, a fate that transcends time itself. It is beautiful and stunning and so so lovely. I let this book devour my soul in less than 5 hours, and it will stay with me for a lifetime. Steven’s work is phenomenal and the interwoven moments of past lives throughout the present day story were gorgeous and heartbreaking. Reading this book was like an embrace from a lover. You will laugh, you will cry, you will be angry, you will gasp, you will sob. You will feel love.

2.5⭐️I don’t think I’ve ever fully explained my rating system anywhere but in the simplest of terms, I rate books off of the vibes and the emotions that are triggered. Anything below three stars essentially means I either forced myself to finish the book despite being bored, or I just could not stand the themes, characters, or overall plot of the book.Unfortunately, I feel like this book was a combination of all of those and the only reason it’s rated a bit higher is that the writing overall was incredible. I loved the imagery that was created and there were a lot of very memorable quotes but the repetition of their supposed intense love for each other followed by their inevitable deaths with no explanation was so tedious.I started off as an Arden hater and it really never got better. Every single one of his actions made me furious and the fact that it took him a thousand years to tell Evelyn why this was happening to them, was bonkers. One of the quotes from Ten Thousand Years mentioned “forever wondering why you chose me” and this is exactly how I felt about Evelyn constantly just going with the flow and the stupid games that Arden was playing, why did you choose him??Evelyn honestly wasn’t too bad of a character but her complete lack of logical thought was irritating. How she had the patience to wait a thousand years before actually pushing for answers was insane.I really wanted to love the overall story. I love a good time travel book and was hoping that this one would have similar vibes to This Is How You Lose the Time War but it just fell flat. I felt at the 30% mark that I had already read a whole book and really struggled to finish it off. While there were certainly some twists I didn’t see coming, they weren’t big enough to shock me and I just wasn’t emotionally invested in the story.Overall, I’m not sure what the true takeaway of the book is. Some may argue that it is that love conquers all. Others might say it’s to avoid pyramid schemes because they’re essentially deals with the devil. Frankly, I was just hoping for more. This seems to be a book that people either love or hate and it just wasn’t for me.

It is very rare that I find a book that I connect with on this level, I knew from the prologue that this was going to be a good one.I adore a bittersweet love story – ‘And together we were sacrilege’ – that slices your heart to ribbons. This did that so beautifully. The weave of subtle yet astute social commentary, the rich tapestry of language pulled from all corners of the earth and time, tiny details woven into the sorry telling – (vial of sugar water, the Siberian embrace), humorous, down-to-earth interactions, the lived-in Britishness of it all. I would fall in love with this book in every lifetime.
