Real unadulterated silicone grease. The good stuff!
The real thing with no additives or ‘stretchers’ like teflon or petroleum (OK for some uses, but not for many). The good stuff for electrical, high voltage, Brake and Hi-Temp machinery, O-ring lubricant, syringes, pumps, valves, etc. This is a fairly priced commodity used by most industrial businesses and also has many DIY applications.I wrote this review because finding the pure thing on the net can be difficult. It’s common to receive mixtures sold as sold as “silicone grease” that just won’t do the job. (you cannot use petroleum around oxidizers, some melt, some contaminate systems or attack some rubber compounds etc) so I decided to make life a bit easier for those of you looking for real silicone grease. (for auto brakes, it isn’t critical and there are many good brake lubes out there (I like the Permatex 21425 ceramic stuff in the purple jar), but you can use this for most applications involving heat, aggressive chemicals and electricity. Applications Include: Bulb sockets, connectors, plug wires and boots, hydraulic valve o-rings, use on threads and electrical connectors in the salt/rust belt so your connectors and flare nuts rust more slowly, You can wipe a film on car window gaskets (NOT on the wipers in the door), to keep the windows from freezing shut, put some on the key and work into locks for the same effect, Lubes and protects from corrosion mechanical control cables (wipe on inner cable before installing in sheath), I’ve even used it on the closures for high power rocket engines – Dr Rocket and homebrew motors (pure silicone is the only grease safe to use with oxidizers like N2O), and it’s foodsafe so OK to use for homebrewing equipment valves etc. (the other kind). Anyway, if you need real silicone grease, you know all this. The Dow Corning “High Vacuum Grease” in the white and green tube is the same stuff, also highly recommended but usually is more expensive.Sorry to run on over grease. Buy it!

    Great bargain; many uses
This is 3 oz of silicone grease (dielectric grease). I paid around $8 and the ad showed a package with Japanese writing on it. Who cares? The same product with English labeling in the ad was twice the price. Ended up receiving the latter anyways. For comparison, a half-ounce tube of Danco Grease is $4. Good stuff and a good applicator tip, but pricey. I use this for protecting electrical connections on automotive wiring and soldered joints before wrapping them in heat shrink tubing. I also use this for lubricating my o-rings on scuba gear and underwater flashlights. Not a bad idea for your home flashlights if you do any camping and risk exposure to rain, too. Silicone grease is also sold for plumbing applications (faucet grease), but that application only sees very occasional use. This is not high-temp lube and will burn if you get it super hot. So don’t be applying it to your sparkplug threads–modern plugs don’t even require lube or “anti-seize” anymore. But it’s also great to apply to your car’s battery terminal connectors, inside and out, to prevent corrosion that’s accelerated by atmospheric humidity.Yes, it is likely that I will never need to buy another tube of silicone/dielectric grease again. Others have complained that the caps are prone to breakage, thus rendering these tubes useless without a cap. Even if the cap quality is defective, I see no reason why a replacement cap can’t be easily located (even from a tube of toothpaste, perhaps!). It’s not like they’re using proprietary threading on the tube neck… So cap breakage is not really a concern to me. That said, for the Average Joe, this tube could last a lifetime. Your offspring will be delighted to receive a half tube of this grease when you pass.Another complaint is that it’s difficult to apply with the toothpaste-tube shaped nozzle instead of a pointed applicator nozzle. Big deal. For electrical connections you can use a toothpick or your fingers. For o-rings I use my fingers. For plumbing applications you’re probably going to slather it on anyways and clean up the excess. Would a pointed tube be better? Sure. Is it essential? No. Could you probably locate one if you really wanted it? Probably. This stuff is translucent in bulk, but is essentially transparent at the thicknesses typically used.Good stuff. Fraction of the price of my other favorite little tubes of Danco, and will last a looong time if you’re not a plumber or are prone to giving up on life if a little plastic cap breaks!

The Permatex Tune Up Dielectric Grease has proven to be an invaluable tool in my automotive and electrical maintenance kit, deserving a full 5-star rating for its effectiveness and versatility. As a dielectric grease, its primary role is to prevent moisture and corrosion on electrical connectors, and it excels in this function. After applying it to various automotive electrical connections, spark plug boots, and battery terminals, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the longevity and reliability of these components. The grease creates a protective barrier that not only prevents corrosion but also aids in sealing out contaminants like dirt and salt. The consistency and quality of the grease are noteworthy. It’s thick enough to stay in place and provide a good seal, yet it’s still easy to apply. The 85 g tube is a convenient size, making it easy to handle and store in a toolbox. A little goes a long way, so this tube lasts through several applications. One of the key advantages of this product is its dielectric properties, meaning it doesn’t conduct electricity. This makes it safe to use on sensitive electrical components and connections, providing peace of mind, especially for DIY enthusiasts and professional mechanics alike.Permatex’s Dielectric Grease is also great for other applications beyond automotive uses, such as on outdoor light fixtures, marine electronics, and even on computer parts to prevent oxidation. This versatility adds to the product’s value. The grease is also temperature-resistant, maintaining its consistency and protective qualities in both high and low temperatures, which is crucial for automotive and outdoor applications. In conclusion, the Permatex Tune Up Dielectric Grease is a must-have for anyone who works on cars, boats, or any electrical equipment. Its ability to protect and preserve electrical connections, combined with its versatility and ease of use, make it an excellent investment for both professional and at-home use.

I bought this for lubing keyboard stabilizers to reduce the metallic rattle, works perfectly. Nice thick greasy lubricant that stands the test of time. I was lubing stabs previously with Glorious Glube and some random GPL205G0, both didn’t survive in the long run (suspect it was the lack of thickness, overall lubrication would reduce over time and bring back the rattle). This one is showing no issues so far, and quite happy with it. The tube is pretty big, so probably gonna last a lifetime. Just be aware that this only works for the wires specifically in the stabilizers, this is not for lubing switches or the stabilizers itself.
