Watched this movie many times while pregnant! ❤️
I love this film. Watched and fell in love with it while pregnant with my daughter! It’s funny in some ways and also sad in some. Perfect mix and example of a Rom Com, and Young love!

Wonderful story of the drama of new parenthood
I have to admit, I’m pretty well biased towards John Hughes movies already. But one about the beginnings of marriage leading into new parenthood seems like a slam dunk of a story for any fan of his work who has lived through this stage of life themselves! Comical intercuts and segues imagined in the mind of the husband/father-to-be (played masterfully by Kevin Bacon). Endearing moments from the wife/mother-to-be (played by the delightful Elizabeth McGovern). And plenty of scenes of comedy, drama, and near tragedy fill out a great film!

A fantastice John Hughes classic
Be forewarned, this is not a movie about a newly married couple. It’s actually a young-man’s perspective of relationships, life, marriage, friendship, family, and love. Sometimes that perspective is accurate, sometimes it’s distorted by one’s opinions or perspective (speaking as a man here). This movie is so good I gave it away as a gift to my daughter, to help her understand the men in her relationships.Lots of laughs, and enough tears (“This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush).Very funny credits…how many stars can you count? Depending on your age and tv/movie viewing habits, there are a lot more than you might think.Rest in peace William Windom, you’re bedroom advice was hilarious!

Although it receives mixed reviews from some, I personally feel this is a deep and engaging story that many can or could relate to in their own lives. Some fun elements of humor thrown in at the right time to balance out the more serious messages behind the story. Kevin Bacon nails the role perfectly.

This is John Hughes at his best, mixing post-teen angst with parenthood. Anyone who has ever had kids could not fail to cry in the final scenes. It is a superb blend of the surreal (dancing with lawnmowers) and the very real (tight trousers causing infertility). It should of been a massive hit when it came out but somehow passed people by, and is now mentioned in a wispered hush. It’s amazing how many people don’t know they’ve seen this film until they are reminded of certain scenes. It is always remembered with fondness. An absolute classic.
