The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the United States of America. It superseded the Articles of Confederation, the nation’s first constitution, in 1789. Originally comprising seven articles, it delineates the national frame and constraints of government.

The Constitution’s first three articles embody the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress (Article I); the executive, consisting of the president and subordinate officers (Article II); and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts (Article III). Article IV, Article V, and Article VI embody concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments, the states in relationship to the federal government, and the shared process of constitutional amendment. Article VII establishes the procedure subsequently used by the 13 states to ratify it. The Constitution of the United States is the oldest and longest-standing written and codified national constitution in force in the world today.

    Perfect size
This is a handy little pocket sized book to quickly reference anything in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. It’s been a bit since I last learned all the amendments, and my memory isn’t what it used to be. I appreciate having a handy reference to be sure I am quoting the proper amendment on occasion when necessary. Also, the price is so good, I ordered extras to give to family and friends. It’s always a good thing to know and understand the supreme laws that govern our country.

Great size; easy to read font
I was concerned that the pocket size would make the font difficult to read, but it is easy to read even without my glasses. Highly recommended if you want a size an accessible in a pocket or a purse.

    Small convenient little book
A nice little book I can stick in my apron pocket. The front and back covers are glossy cardstock. I’m old, it should last me!.

    Important to know info
I liked the idea of this handy book on the U.S. Constitution which fits inside any purse, in clothing, and nice gifts too. I purchased three and gave one to my best friend, who is from Germany. Now, when she hears about the constitution in the news or in conversation, she has a handy reference tool to learn what each Amendment is in our Constitution. Great tool to keep, too
