The best book on the scientific approach to build muscle.
I read a lot. I’ve read countless books about fitness. (I’ll not name them as not to disparaging any of them.) almost every single one I’ve read is just the authors approach on how they got fit. They try selling you the book, telling you yes, this is the book that will finally get you fit.The problem is, is every book is wildly different in how they approach fitness. A lot of them use old outdated “bro science” to substantiate their claims. Leading to sub-optimal hypertrophy. They make wild claims in their book that you’ll be a spitting image of captain america, or Thor.Ultimately, if you workout you’ll gain muscle. There is no cheat code (unless you want to risk the health consequences of steroids). That’s why I liked this book so much. The author Jeff never tries to sell you this book that in 60-90 days you’ll be jacked. He literally tells the honest to god truth. Which is extremely rare now a days. This book is written out in an amazing way. He literally walks you up “the muscle ladder.” So, if you literally know nothing about hypertrophy(muscle building) by the end of the book you’ll have an amazing knowledge on today’s current scientific data on hypertrophy. If your goal is to build muscle this book is a must have! The only complaint I have is that I think Jeff should have done the workout exercises in chapter 4 shirtless, and maybe used animations to highlight which muscles you’re trying to target. I struggled immensely when I first started with trying to figure out where to put the bar on my back for squats. I just could never figure out where to put it. Then one day I came across an animation with like a x-ray vision type animation of where to put the bar. It finally clicked.

A Game-Changer for Strength and Muscle Growth!
“The Muscle Ladder” is hands down one of the best fitness books I’ve ever read! It breaks down muscle-building principles in a way that’s easy to understand and apply, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced lifter. The step-by-step progression system makes it simple to track progress and push yourself to the next level. What I love most is how the book balances science-backed strategies with real-world practicality—no gimmicks, just solid advice that works. If you’re serious about building strength and muscle, this book is a must-read!

Title: The Holy Grail of Muscle Hypertrophy – A Must-Read!
As a medically trained doctor and a gym rat on and off for the last 40 years, I’ve been searching for a single source that truly breaks down muscle hypertrophy. I’ve spent countless hours listening to experts like Joe Rogan, Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, Dr. Andy Galpin, and Dr. Mike Israetel, trying to extract the golden nuggets of information from their podcasts. If you’re looking for the holy grail of muscle growth, look no further than Jeff Nippard’s The Muscle Ladder! He takes complex science and distills it into easy-to-understand, actionable strategies. His book doesn’t just give you the theory—it provides practical tools and techniques you can implement immediately. Not only have I applied these principles to myself, but I’ve also integrated them into my patient care with incredible results. If you want a concise, science-backed roadmap to getting jacked, this is the book for you! Highly, highly recommend! 💪📖🔥

Filled with gorgeous photos and great information.
What a banger, conversationalist tone to inform people of science based lifting. Jeff writes with positivity and great cadence to bring the very best advice in lifting. I started the first week of one of the beginner programs to continue my weightlifting journey and have been reading through the chapters like a fiend. Great read!

Comprehensive Guide For Beginners
My book arrived in perfect shape and is really a gorgeous book. I feel bad for folks that got one with damaged.Anyway the content is very solid. Nothing earth shattering and honestly and if you follow Jeff and are somewhat up to date on the field you aren’t going to learn much of anything new.Honestly my favorite chapters were the early chapters on habits and motivation. I feel like that is often overlooked aspect fitness that more folks need to hear.A lot of the later chapters are just hitting the high points on the topic which Jeff admits. Clearly, entire books have been written on a lot of the stuff that Jeff is only able to touch like hydration, sleep, supplements, squat technique, periodization etc…I’m torn on my rating as I think it might be the best book you could recommend to someone that was new to lifting but I don’t think that is the audience and most beginners aren’t going to be spending this much for a book.

Great Book So far
I have read quite a few bodybuilding books and I quite like this one so far… I would compare it to the old arnold book from back in the 80s. Encyclopedia of bodybuilding minus the old school photos and stories…But instead just a lot of practical good advice, well structured and updated. Kind of a mix of old school and science based knowledge. Just a really solid read overall and would be greatly beneficial to someone starting out…I am about 3/4 through the book so far and have nothing bad to say about it other then amazon sending me a copy with the pages a bit warped, which I am not even sure how they accomplished being its a hardcover… Its not terribly warped, but still sucks..
