Great book backed by science
I love this book. I’m really into the scientific side of beauty and this book is really informative. I’ve even looked up some info in the book that I was skeptical about and found peer-reviewed articles supporting the information that proved me wrong! Definitely buy if you want to know if you’re wasting money on skincare fads

Clean and highly detailed illustrations aid understanding
Don’t you hate it when science textbooks use diagrams that look like they were made in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007? Or worse, they’re so cluttered and poorly labeled, they become an illegible mess after photocopying? Not a problem here. It’s a gorgeous book and full of so many interesting things I always wanted to know about skin and hair.

Good book for skincare enthusiasts
I love everything about skincare. You can say that I am obsessed, I follow the writer on Instagram and was intrigued to find out she has a book. I bought because I also want to learn the science behind everything. By the way I am not a beginner in skincare, I pretty much know a lot that can be learned about basic and intermediate skincare and I really enjoyed this book. It was very informative.

i expected more from michelle wong, disappointing
it serves as a good overview of a little bit of everything, if you we’re completely uninformed about majority of things involving hair, makeup, nails, skincare. it’s like a better wikipedia with a good basic outline of these things and the most asked questions. however, if you are even slightly interested and knowledgeable and whether through hearing things on youtube, instagram, tiktok, reddit, and have gone out of your way to be interested and researched questions or even watched michelle wong’s videos on youtube (lab muffin beauty science). this won’t be helpful. i have low porosity hair, and its virgin/undamaged and was seeking out more information on how to treat it/how to go about it, the hair section was painfully short in my opinion, and yeah, the information i could get from her videos, especially on conditioning. lots of myths addressed here could also be found in her videos, exact same myths and even more myths through her videos reacting to beauty content.im really disappointed due to the fact that i love her channel. each point/question addressed was quite short, too general, was the very basics. i really expected something similar to her videos on youtube that are quite thorough (at least more than this book) and address more questions in general, have more topics, etc. honestly you could get a decent amount of information from this book by watching majority of her videos, and the SAME information watching those, it’s also more covers more detailed and interesting questions as well.her part about botox was especially iffy as well, as botox IS temporary to my knowledge but it’s longer than majority of people taking it (and are being advised as) are aware, years even, and it’s disturbing if you were to actually look further into the matter. the trend of getting constant “top” ups every month by some people and what people actually do is just ridiculous. i would’ve loved to see more detailed information on THAT. she just addresses it shortly. like what? we also do not have that much long-term research on botox, only knowing it’s safe in the short-term with tons of studies, which ofc, isn’t addressed and questionable. it should be at least addressed right? disappointing!
